| Akumal is known as one of the best areas in Mexico and the world to scuba dive. The Mesoamerican Coral Reef stretches over 600 miles from the nothern tip of Cancun, south to the islands of Honduras. This enormous coral wall is second only to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Today, there are over fifty-seven differenty cave systems to visit with more than 300 miles of passageways to explore and enjoy. Five of the largest water filled cave systems in the world are located in this area.
