Buses - If you are on a budget local buses are a cheap way to get around Copper Canyon, You can catch local buses from Los Mochis inland to El Fuerte. The total trip is 89km and will usually take about 2 hours. You can catch local buses at the corner of G. Prieto and Cuauhtemoc. |

Rental Cars - are available from the major rental companies. To rent a car, you must be at least 25 years of age, hold a valid driver's license, and a major credit card. Although there are several car rental companies. Tours and trips are easily provoded by taxis or buses.

Taxis - Taxis can be found all over Copper Canyon and at most hotels, Cabs are affordable and government-regulated, but it is wise to ask the taxi driver before getting into a cab what the charge will be, as rates are not listed on the outside of the cab. Taxi rates depend on distance. Most hotels will list fares at the hotel. If you are not happy with a price the driver is telling you and he will not negotiate just waive him by and get a new taxi.

Driving in Copper Canyon - The roads in the Copper Canyon area are in good condition. The drive from city to city can be even more scenic than the train rides. The drive will take you through pine forests of the Sierra Madres. If you can drive a 4 wheel drive truck it would be smart, because many parts of the Copper Cayon area are hard to get to with a regular car, especially if it snows. Highway 16 is a paved road that connects Chihuahua City to Creel and Divisadero. Then you can take highway 127 to Creel. |

Getting around Copper Canyon on Foot - Probably one of the best ways to see Copper Canyon is by foot. This journey is not for everyone, but if you are a decent hiker, then it will take around 3 to 4 days to explore this area. There are so many more things to see on foot in Copper canyon, that you would never be able to see from the train tours. There are several companies that provide backpacking tours, which include meals and sometimes even gear and accommodations. |

Getting around Copper Canyon by Train - The Chihuahua al Pacífico Railroad, known as ChP or Chepe, is a major rail line in northwest Mexico, linking the city of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, to the town of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, near the Pacific coast. It runs 650 km (400 miles), traversing the Copper Canyon, a beautiful and rugged series of canyons that have led some to call this the most scenic railroad trip on the continent. It is both an important transportation system for locals and a draw for tourists. |
