Annual Half International Marathon (Medio Maraton Internacional) - This is an annual event that has become a tradition in Guadalajara for over 20 years. People from all around the world train and come to Guadalajara to run in this 21 kilometer race. The event is open to disabled runners as well. International Film Festival (Muestra Internacional de Cine) - A world class event for the presentation of quality film. It has developed an environment supportive to the dialogue between artists and the public, and has also been a meeting place for filmmakers, actors, cinematographers, distributors, and critics both from Mexico and abroad. The Guadalajara Film Festival is the oldest and most important film festival in Mexico, over 20 years.

International Mariachi and Charro Festival (Encuentro Internacional del Mariachi y la Charreria) - Annual celebration of mariachi music in the mariachi capital of the world Guadalajara. Musicians come from around the world to listen, audition, compete, perform, and ultimately to win over the hearts of their listeners. Performances take place on the street, in plazas, in minor venues, and fine theaters.

October Festivals (Fiestas de Octubre) - Every year in October since 1965, Guadalajara holds month-long events celebrating Jaliscan culture, including dance, music, art, sports and great food. Free daily entertainmentin the fairgrounds of the Benito Juarez Auditorium. Throughout the festival's month-long period there are concerts, rodeos, football matches, folk dance displays and art exhibitions scattered around the city.

Guadalajara International Book Fair (Feria Internacional del Libro, or FIL) - Founded in 1987 by the University of Guadalajara, the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) is the largest market in the world for Spanish language publications. Throughout the nine-day event, writers, scholars, artists, and literary connoisseurs from all walks of life fill the halls of the Guadalajara Expo Center and submerge themselves in the best that the literary world has to offer.

National Tequila Fair (Feria Nacional del Tequila) - Annual Festival that takes place in Tequila, Jalisco, the town that gave its name to Mexico's national liquor. The small town of Tequila is located approximately 37 miles north of Guadalajara. The tequila fair features an exposition of the primary tequila makers throughout the country, with demonstrations on how this famous spirit is made. The fair also features charreadas (Mexican rodeo events), cockfights, mariachi serenades and fireworks. |
