| FONATUR, Mexicos government funded tourist development company officially innagurated Huatulco as a primier destinations in Mexico in 1988. They selected the area of Bahias de Huatulco which coprises of a 22 mile strip of land. Most of the major resort hotels can be found in Bahia Tangolunda which means "place where the gods live".
