| Founded upon the ruins of the Mayan city T’ho, which was constructed with white limestone and means "Face of Infinity," Merida is known today as the White City. It has beautiful and solidly built colonial buildings that house the city’s history, art, traditions and culture. In the downtown Historic Center, you can visit the city cathedral, an impressive 16th century construction. Or you can go to interesting museums, such as the Yucatan Museum of Archaeology, which you’ll find in Palacio Canton, an elegant building dating back to the Porfirian era. You can also take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage down the city’s main avenue, Paseo Montejo, which is lined with 19th century mansions and well-known hotels. Itinerary:
4 Nights / 5 Days: (Wednesdays thru Sundays)
Day 01. - Greeting at (MID) Merida airport by our staff, then transfer to your selected hotel.
Day 02. - City tour of Mérida on the Touribus. Afternoon attendance to Santa Lucia Park for a serenade with Yucatecan Dances and live music.
Day 03. - Tour to Uxmal; This archaeological zone, located 80 km (50 mi) south of Merida on Highway 261, has palaces of majestic architecture. The city has 15 groups of buildings, including the Adivino Pyramid, an impressive structure that is 35 meters (115 feet) tall, and the Palacio del Gobernador (Governor’s Palace), considered one of the most beautiful constructions of Mesoamerica. Don’t miss out on the magical experience of Uxmal’s sound and light show. Return to Mérida after the Light & Sound Show.
Day 04.- Tour to Chichen Itza; Considered one of the most important capitals of Mayan culture, here you can admire spectacular constructions such as El Castillo (The Castle) and the Kukulcan Temple, El Observatorio (The Observatory), the Caracol and the largest ball court discovered in the Mesoamerican region. There is also the Sagrado sinkhole, which is 30 meters (100 feet) wide in diameter. Located 121 km (75 mi) visit and incredible Sacred Cenote, swim and cool off. (Time for lunch on your own) then return to Mérida and free afternoon.
Day 05. - Transfer to the airport. |
