| There are several major shopping areas of Oaxaca, start with the small villages that surround the city. This is were you can see and shop for pottery, woven rugs, alebrijes and other unique art. Visit Ocotlan de Morelos village market and one of the biggest market places in Mexico. On Fridays people from nearby villages come and sell their products such as pottery, cutlery, leather products, reed baskets, and containers called “jicaras” made from fruits of Crescentia cujete. Dont miss Mercado de Noviembre located close to zocalo. In this market you can buy local cuisine and mole. It is more of a shopping center for locals, however it is worth seeing.
