La Inglesia de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe in Puerto Vallarta La Inglesia de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe - The church of our Lady of Guadalupe. Construction began in 1918 and was completed in 1951. The gilded crown that tops the beautiful church is a replica of the crown worn by Carlota, empress of Mexico in the 1860s, the base of which is decorated with eight angels holding hands. The original crown was made of concrete and was unfortunately damaged in the 1995 earthquake, but has since been replaced by one done by the famous sculpture Octavio Gonzales.
Puerto Vallarta Isla Rio Cuale Isla Rio Cuale - This island slices downtown Puerto Vallarta in two. The Rio Cuale runs east/west through El Centro (the old center of town). The river flows around the narrow Isla Rio Cuale. There is pedestrian bridge that crosses the Rio Cuale to connect the northern end of Los Muertos Beach with the southern end of the famous Malecon. The island of Isla del Rio Cuale has a central walkway lined with shops, restaurants and cafes.
La Nostalgia in Puerto vallarta La Nostalgia - bronze sculpture by the sculptor Ramiz Barquet. He has the most public art on display in the city, the story is that his own love story inspiring these smooth bronze figures. After finding the woman he loved, then losing track of her for 27 years, in a twist of fate they were reunited and married. This is the spot where the lovers sat talking of their "almost life" together. When he proposed, he promised that if she said yes, he would create a tribute to their love for all the world to see.
Los Arcos Los Arcos - "The Arches," are a group of granite rock formations with caves that have been sculpted by the force of the ocean over thousands of years. From the main arch, where depths range from 30 to 60 feet, a shelf takes you to the edge of a canyon known as nderwater wall called the Quijada del Diablo and an underwater mountain known as El Bajo.Dropping an awesome 1600 feet, this wall marks the beginning of the continental platform. Beneath the surface of the water, fantastic natural formations are waiting to be explored.
Puerto Vallarta Malecon Malecon - The malecon is the seawall walkway or boardwalk that stretches the length of downtown Vallarta. There are several art sculptures along the malecon such as the seahorse and La Nostalgia. At night locals and visitors stroll along the boardwalk or relax and enjoy the artwork. There is a large outdoor amphitheater located at the south end of the malecon; here festivals, dancing, live music and cultural events take place.
Puerto Vallarta The Seahorse The Seahorse - bronze sculpture by the sculptor Ramiz Barquet. He has the most public art on display in the city. The seahorse is a nine-foot-high bronze statue featuring a boy riding it, is arguably Vallarta’s most-recognized symbol it has sttod since 1976. Originally the was an identical statue at the south end of Los Muertos Beach, however excessive surf and wind eventually wrecked the sculpture.
