Since the city of Queretaro has witnessed important facts of the Mexican past, it offers a great amount of historic monuments and places to admire. Also, the historic center of this city was declared by the UNESCO in 1996 as “World Cultural Heritage”.
Aqueduct Aqueduct - Constructed between 1726 and 1735, the aqueduct of Queretaro has gained national recognition as the symbol of the city. Built of local sandstone, its 74 arches reach nearly 1,400 yards east of the city; the highest arch soars some 75 feet above current-day street level. The aqueduct brought drinking water into the city from springs located on what are now the outskirts of town. It was put into service in 1738, furnishing water to the convents and filling the public fountains, an event which occasioned two weeks of public celebration.
Casa de Escala Casa de Escala - Casa de Ecala is a mansion built in magisterial baroque style with beautiful balconies and wrought iron, it dates from the 18th century. Located in front of the Plaza de Armas. The façade has majestic windows with forged steel balconies. One of the stone window frames has a peculiar design in the form of a curtain.
Casa de la Marquesa Casa de la Marquesa - Now a five star hotel, located at 41 Francisco I. Madero. This is one of the most beautiful examples of local baroque architecture, built in the 18th century. The hotel has been completely restored. The two-story façade has hewn stone sculptures and various balconies. The courtyard lobby, which has elaborate mudéjar-style (a style with Moorish origins) arches and patterned walls.
Fuente de Neptun Fuente de Neptune - (Neptune Fountain), a Neo-Classical work by the sculptor Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras dating from 1797. Rumor has it that it was once sold by the monks during during economic problems. Today it stands in the small park on the corner of Madero and Allende.
Jardin de la Corregidora

Jardin de la Corregidora - This is the center of Queretaro, this is the calmest part of the town, with patio dining and cafes. The monument at the center is honoring Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez who was a War of Independence hero, behind the statue is the Arbol de la Amistad planted in 1977; it symbolizes hospitality and friendship to travelers visiting Queretaro.

Museo de Arte de Queretaro Museo de Arte de Queretaro - The former San Agustin Convent is located over Allende Street in the historic center. This museum contains one of the great collections of Mexican colonial art, exhibits pictorial and sculptural works from the seventeenth, eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The art is organized by style of painting. The collection has works by Europeans, but its focus is on painters in New Spain.
Plaza de la Independencia Plaza de la Independencia - known as Plaza de Armas. At the beginning of the 17th century this was a market. Today, it is a pleasant square with restored colonial mansions with sidewalk cafes and the Marques de la Villa del Villar del Aguila statue which is a monument honoring the person who built Queretaro's Aqueduct
